Yes, current, I’m aware this won’t last forever ): I love it here!

Sunday: Church & whatever is planned for us from our leaders! We attend an American church called Horizon which is in the same town we live, about a 30 minute sweaty walk or a 5 minute crazy uber drive. I have walked only once because it’s easy picking between a 50 cent drive rather than showing up to church soaked & tired. After church we either have team time or an activity or lesson planned from our team leaders.

Monday: Sabbath day! This day is a day sanctified by Jesus to be different from every other day of the week. Genesis 2:1-3 explains that after Jesus created everything in such detail, he rested. The 7th day of our week are holy and healing. We learned the importance of intentionally choosing rest and honor on this day created exactly for it. On Sabbath, I choose to spend some time in the local coffee shops, where the wifi is, so I can call some friends and family from home. I also spend a lot of the day on the beach, in my happy place. I love soaking up all the sun and being out in the water. The sunsets are also spectacular over the waves.

Tuesday – Friday: Ministry! I wake up about 6:45am each morning and go to the cafe to catch some wifi and read my bible and write. Around 8am, I walk back home and eat breakfast and by 9am, Richard (marvelous teacher who is so influenced by the holy spirit) comes and does an hour devotion to our household of 54 people. It never once doesn’t hit right in the heart. It’s always exactly what I need to hear. He is blunt, he is loving and he is an extreme faithful listener. We get our day off to a good start and then go out and do ministry which looks different every day! Some will go to the park and continue painting the mural while others go to Horizon church and help clean the pregnancy center or prepare material for children’s ministry on Sundays. We also sometimes stay behind at our house and fix and clean miscellaneous things here. Wherever we are needed is where we go! Our day usually ends around 5pm and we get free time until dinner (about 6:30pm). During my free time, I’m always at the beach. I can’t stop watching the sunsets and have made friends with some locals who I like going to chat with. Dinner comes around and I’m honestly in bed by 9pm… everyone says I go to bed early but if you know me, you know I’m not an early bird so in order to be one, I need 10 hours…. AT LEAST.

Saturday: FREE DAY! By the time Saturday comes along, it is much needed because this 88 degree weather wears you out quick! I eat out all day on my free day usually because we only get it once a week & it’s nice to get some authentic Costa Rican food in me and still do ministry through our servers at restaurants, people at the beach, store owners and literally anyone in passing. I started surfing last week and plan to surf every off chance I get until we leave Jaco, there’s nothing better than being out on a board in the ocean. I always end my free day with good food and a sunset! This Saturday, as a whole squad, we are going zip lining!! Stoked for that!!

I’m extremely thankful the people who have been placed in my life at this time to live with. Living in community gives me so many opportunities to learn even when I’m just at home. Thanks God for the amazing host we have who has scheduled personal self care days and time to seek ourselves out in the midst of newness and discomfort.

Love always,
