Sawasdee (sah-wah-dee) < HELLO in English!
STOP #2
THAILAND
Next stop up, THAILAND. In December of 2019, I will be traveling from Swaziland to Thailand, a Southeast Asian country in Asia known for it’s tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples displaying figures of Buddha. 95% of the population are Buddhist. Thai is the language spoken in this country and a few popular dishes include pad thai, tom yum soup and green curry. 69,300,011 people live in Thailand as of 2019 with a rate of 51% male and 49% female. AIDS has reached epidemic proportions and at least 700,000 Thais are HIV positive and have AIDS. 2% of the male and 1.5% of the female population are affected. There are between 30,000 and 50,000 AIDS related fatalities every year. With this being said, we will be spending days loving on children with special needs or doing projects around the Adventure Thailand base.
I am not only super stoked for the food in Thailand (especially tom yum) but am even more excited to preach the gospel to those who may not have heard about Jesus before. The Thai culture is going to be super cool to learn about but I am ready for the challenges I may be facing in this country.
Prayer Request: I pray that God uses us to reveal himself in the lives of non-believers and touches and heals hurting communities.
Love always,
<3 P
